From an early age, I was mesmerized by what could be created from a blank canvas. How different writing tools could make a beautiful composition for a song, poem, story, or even research paper. Acrylic and watercolor in concert with various brush styles could produce a finished product that expressed what I couldn’t say in words.
I soon learned the power of words in combination with works of art and how that could make or break its audience albeit a family, a church, a classroom, or a community. Hearing Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech for the first time as a sophomore in college was a game changer.
My love for art, writing, and speech as forms of self-expression grew in high school and I became an award-winning painter and in-depth news journalist. As an adolescent, I wanted to be a hair stylist, then after high school it was an art teacher, followed by a corporate trainer upon college graduation
After receiving my bachelors in communication, my love for and curiosity about the art of hair led to obtaining my cosmetology license and working part time in a salon for over 10 years. Today I offer house calls for haircutting and care services to all ages and stages of life, especially for older adults and individuals receiving home health care. As a traveling stylist, I am aim for mindfulness and attention to detail as each person deserves fair treatment with a high level of dignity and respect.
“Leadership is action, not position,” swiftly became the mantra throughout my work. Over the past 25+ years, I have enjoyed researching and applying the art to everything I do. Today, my passion centers around collaboration with other like-minded creators and artists to achieve outcome-focused results for individuals, intact teams, and organizations. Having worked across various industries, including financial services, child care management, transportation, e-commerce, and now senior living, my passion and purpose are clear: To cultivate true love for the whole self and courage to live in alignment with your core values.
Translating another’s vision was a challenge on repeat that energized me continually—until it became clear that my core values were being compromised. I fought hard to refine and redefine what was most important and nonnegotiable for me. And after learning about the self-work involved to address, heal, and forgive those issues and traumas that resurfaced in my own life, I have realized my deepest passion to help others cultivate their own love of their whole self: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Find the inner courage to care for your entire well-being, ranging from physical competence to spiritual completeness.
